 Universal Arts works with festivals, promoters, producers and receiving venues in countries that accept international productions.
We represent a portfolio of client shows from around the world which have already been successful in their home base and which are looking to widen their touring reach. We specialise in representing medium to large scale shows which are not language dependent such as physical theatre, musicals, dance and opera. However we also have a small portfolio of English language text based productions. In addition we hold a collection of drama texts available for productions or translations.
We are willing to share our portfolio of clients with festival and receiving venue programmers, producers and promoters to create business opportunities for everyone involved.
We offer a specialised service to overseas agents and producers during the Edinburgh Festival Fringe, which is to the world’s performing arts what the Cannes Film Festival is to the film industry - THE MARKET SHOWCASE. Every year in August over 750 hundred companies from around the globe present over 1500 productions to over 500 world-wide buyers. Good productions are invited by festivals and receiving theatre programmers, independent producers purchase scripts and productions for further development and TV companies search for new talent.
Universal Arts can act as your festival administrators preparing and delivering budgets, finding the most suitable stages, comfortable and affordable accommodation and professional press and PR companies. We also manage and programme our own two venues. Hill Street Theatre, the oldest festival venue in constant operation - with a 72 seat Studio and 120 seat Theatre it is an intimate space for small to medium productions. Universal Arts Theatre, possibly most beautiful festival venue in town, is situated in a magnificent Victorian mansion in the heart of the city. The 200 seat Mysterious could be configured as end-on stage theatre or as a cabaret space with tables and chairs and its own bar. The 360 seat Majestic is a striking theatre suitable for large-scale productions. |
